Dr. Chi is double boarded with Board Certification in American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery as well as Specialty Certification in Surgery of the Hand since September 2014. A native of Seattle, Dr. Chi received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Prestigious University of Washington School of Medicine in 2004. In her class of 180 students she was one of the two women who chose to specialize in orthopaedic surgery. She then entered Orthopaedic Surgery residency training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where she was the only female orthopaedic resident out of 30 in the program. A hand and Microsurgery fellowship took her to University of California – Irvine. Prior to relocating back to Orange County she worked as Assistant Professor of Hand and Microsurgery at University of Cincinnati, and enjoyed teaching bright and talented orthopaedic residents and fellows, and taking care of college athletes. She continues to be actively involved in academic medicine as clinical assistant professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at University of California-Irvine Medical Center.
Dr. Chi believes the relationship between patient and surgeon is the foundation of any treatment process, and takes a ‘hands on’ approach to patient care and only accepts the “Gold Standard” of treatments in Hand and Wrist Surgery. Dr. Chi is fluent in Mandarin- Chinese, she also has a team of multi-lingual and multi-disciplinary specialists to provide comprehensive care of your hands and wrists. Dr.Chi also served 8 years in the U.S. Army Reserve, our troops and vets always hold a special place in her heart.
